Snow Ice Cream

Made Snow Ice Cream today. Yumm. . .

Here's the recipe:

Get a big scoop of CLEAN snow, lots of vanilla, lots of sugar and some cream. There are no specific measurements of these ingredients, just taste then add more of what you are lacking.

Mix all these together as quickly as possible before it melts. Eat and enjoy.

P.S. I helps a LOT if you freeze your bowl first so the ice cream won't melt to the sides and make ice chunks.

So Good!

My First Treasury!

I got my first treasury on Etsy today!

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

It's called Blue is the Color . . .

I almost didn't get it. Here it is, ONE minute until the treasury opens up and I realize that I'd forgotten to sign in! I JUST made it in time, then promptly forgot all the clever names I'd thought of and named it the first thing that came to mind.

Oh well...at least I got in.

Hope you like it.

Two Hearts in Love

The beautiful heart necklace I've been blogging about has just been listed on Etsy as I'd promised.
am feverishly working on a pair of matching heart earrings with the updated design. I should have them up by tonight.

See below for how I solved the design dilemma on the earrings.

Love creating jewelry!

AT LAST!

At last, my love has come along. . .

I think that's how the song goes.

It's not my love exactly, but my solution to the lazy earring dilemma has been solved.

It took me a lot longer than I had planned (sorry about that). Life has a way of intervening sometimes.

And the solution is. . . NOT to make earrings at all.

You see, I am VERY stubborn and I simply would not take them apart and redo them. I liked the initial design and I could not bring myself to just scrap them and start over.

So I combined them into this double heart necklace.
The open loops of the hearts were wrapped together with the pearls to make the double heart. Swirls were added to the hearts and little white pearls were also added just before the chain to complete the design.

I like it. What do you think?

I've also solved the earring design as well.
For future earrings, I'll simply add this little loop inside the heart to hang the hook from.

See?

As long as I'm careful not to distort the design it shouldn't detract from the style.

I plan to list both in my ArtistiKat site on etsy tomorrow.

But you, my wonderful followers get a sneak peek today; BEFORE it's listed.

Hope you like.

Bread and Butter

Just took two loaves of fresh baked bread from the oven.

Hot bread and butter - yumm.

I WAS going to take a photo of my handiwork, but too late. The family has devoured one loaf and the other one is seriously diminished.

OK. . . so I was part of the ravening hoard, but mmm. . . bread (Homer Simpson drool)

Everyone talks about the Weather

and I'm going to be no exception.

We have enjoyed the most glorious weather the past week here in Asheville North Carolina.

It's mid-January and we've actually had days in the 50's. It was glorious!

After the bitter cold we'd been having, and the serious bundling up you have to do to brave the elements; it almost makes you want to put on shorts and go dancing in the yard.

I was tempted.

New followers- YAY

I signed in today and found two more followers!
Welcome!

I promised everyone an update on my lazy heart earring problem. I have been late in updating and this post I'm sorry to say is not that update. Everything I've tried, I've disliked and ripped apart again.

BUT. . . I think I'm on my way to solving my little dilemma and hope to have something up this evening or tomorrow at the latest.

My Lazy Heart

I had a booth at a craft fair a few weeks ago.

Of course I can never keep my hands still; so between customers I was playing around with a bit of copper wire and came up with these heart earrings.

I thought the open part of the earrings could go against the head and the swirlie part go on the outside.

They came together so effortlessly! Why can’t everything be this easy? (probably most of you can already see what’s wrong in this design).

So cute I thought. Then I added the ear wires.

Well, they ARE cute if you like your earrings to lie on their sides.

The swirly half of the heart is heavier that the open part. Duh… sometimes I get caught up in the designing and don’t notice the practicality until later.

Hmm…been pondering what to do.

I suppose I could leave them as is, but I’m not too thrilled with doing that.

I could add a little ring on the top of the hearts and attach the ear wire through that (workable, but it’s not exactly what I had envisioned when I made these hearts).

I could scrap the whole earring idea altogether and fashion them both into a double heart pendant.

What to do…what to do.

Back in the saddle again

Well, the holidays are over and things are winding down.

I have a new toy! My wonderful husband got me this fantastic pair of flush cutters (he knows what I like). I have been wanting some for so long. Tried them out on some jump rings and they work like a dream!

Guess what I'm going to be doing today.

I've finally gotten off my duff and listed my silver heart earrings on Etsy. Take a look at them and let me know what you think.

I will be posting some new things that utilize my new flush cutter as well. . . I wonder if I can make some earrings entirely out of jump rings.
