Chocolate, the perfect food

First it was coffee, now chocolate. Could there be any two foods/ drinks more satisfying?

Now scientists are discovering that both are good for you.

I have read that caffeinated coffee (if drunk in large enough quantities) might help protect against Alzheimer's; and chocolate is SO loaded with antioxidants that I'd be FOOLISH not to listen to all this sage advice (not that I needed any persuading).
;-)

Actually, I don't know whether it is or is not good for you. I do know that I like it and that's good enough for me.
Apparently I'm not alone...here are some fun quotes about chocolate for my readers.

Funny. I was searching the web and came across this quote. It reminded me of a friend I had known some years ago. We had moved to different states and lost touch, but she was a memorable person.

The first time I had met her, she had a HUGE piece of spinach stuck to her front tooth. She was talking and laughing; people kept giving her funny looks, because of the goo on her tooth, but no one would say anything.

I grabbed her and let her know about the hunk of spinach. She started laughing and told me she had done it on purpose!

Turned out she wanted to know who would actually tell her the truth. I guess I passed. ;-)

Rumaki and knowing better

Made Rumaki yesterday.

For those of you who are not familiar with rumaki, they are little nuggets of yummy cholesterol filled goodness (or torture).

For those of you who hate, loath and despise chicken livers, this might actually be a way you can eat them (assuming you ever want to).

First, you get a bunch of chicken livers, sliced water chestnuts and bacon. Take a piece of the chicken liver, and a slice of water chestnut, wrap it all in a slice of bacon to make a kind of ball.
Set in a plastic dish and marinade in a sauce of your choice. I was in a hurry so I dispensed with the marinade step. Let soak in that for an hour or so in the fridge. Remove from marinade and broil until done. You can also bake at around 400 degrees if you'd rather.

That's it for the most part. They are SO YUMMY!

As I mentioned, I made a huge batch yesterday. The family doesn't like them, so I ate almost all of them myself.

Big mistake.

About 3am I remembered why I must never do that again.

Learned a valuable lesson here.

As I said; goodness and torture.
They WERE yummy, but must remember: ALL things in moderation.
